LALA GHUKASYAN
I am a passionate food enthusiast who firmly believes that utilizing fresh, whole foods and high-quality ingredients in meal preparation significantly contributes to nourishing our bodies and fostering long-term well-being.
I was born and raised in Yerevan, Armenia. Moved to Los Angeles, CA in 2002. I grew up mainly on homemade food, my mother always cooked homemade meals, not necessarily anything fancy, but mostly whole foods bought from farmers market, we didn’t have any big supermarkets or fast food restaurants back then.
Moving to US has been a huge change not just culturally, also a very challenging process adjusting to a new lifestyle and food choices. I remember, back then not having a clue that all the fast food restaurants in US are not the best choice for nutritious or clean food. Anytime I would eat out in any fast food restaurant I would end up not being able finish my meal, or eat at all. It didn’t taste good and caused discomfort in my digestive system.
Being sensitive human, I knew something was not right with ingredients and the quality of the products they used, and had to start making my own meals at home and learn how to source and get whole foods from the right, health food stores and farmers markets. This also inspired me to modify and innovate on the traditional recipes I grew up with, infusing them with a healthier, modern twist through experimentation.
Later in my life, my personal health challenges led me onto research to study Mind-Body Nutrition (Eating Psychology) and dive in deep, into inner psychological healing work. I was eager to learn everything about how I can support my body for a long term on my life journey, not just with food and nutrition, but also how to process and digest life itself and the challenges that arise with it.
I believe it is not just about what you eat or how nutritious your meal is, it is also about how you relate with food and state of your mind and calm when you consume your food. As lifelong Eaters, it's crucial to prioritize understanding ourselves who we are as an Eater and begin the journey of learning how to properly feed and nurture our bodies.
I am also big enthusiast about plant-based eating and have studied plant based cooking, including raw gastronomy, gluten free and oil free cooking methods and much more. I do enjoy having big part of my meals plant based and love experimenting and creating nutritious plant based meals, beyond salad mixes.
One of the fun facts about me: I have an established background in TV and Film industry as a Visual Effects Compositor and Motion Designer with over 13 years of experience and have worked on numerous high end films, and television shows. And had a great opportunity to held a few workshop sessions in my Visual Effects Community and share some of the wisdom I got from Mind - Body Nutrition healing concepts.
I'm filled with anticipation to pass on the insights I've gathered from my personal journey, and very excited about the opportunity to support you as you embark on your culinary creations!
